I started photographing events from the time I could hold my little “Brownie” camera. I harassed family members, recorded events and carefully assemble my albums licking white, or if the mood suggested, black attachment corners for just the right placement.
The time I spent for a college semester in Siena, Italy as an art major transformed my life. Not only the culture and art but the people I met that told me there was more to living than a 9 to 5 job (plus), tract homes and moving through the day without laughing and enjoying friends – but to FEEL life.
I’ve spent the rest of my existence trying to adjust my time in the US to that goal with most people not understanding.
Returning from Siena my photos were stolen (borrowed?) form a university show that I had spent hours in the dark room lovingly producing, never able to recreate.
I didn’t touch a camera seriously until I broke from a successful corporate career ten years ago and found my paradise in the mountains of Idaho. I just couldn’t put down the lens photographing the dramatic cloud formations, seasonal affects of my surrounding and magnificent wildlife.
I recorded our beautiful planet, threw my efforts into creating, then sharing the beauty of real life with others.
I’ve traveled the world – through what I termed many years ago, Adventure Travel, mostly on my own seeking life answers. I found a commonality of humans, searching their eyes, watching their behavior, and realized we are all just one human community with similar feeling, aspirations and a need to connect and preserve.
Finding I could paint by using the computer, I touched each photograph with color, texture and hopefully emotion to convey what I was experiencing and wished to share.
My hope is that as you view my art and stories they will evoke a feeling, a responsibility for saving this beauty for future generations, and a contentment of emotion that will reside in your being.
